Abstract

Existing buildings are buildings that have stood and are functioning normally according to their designation. One of them is a house that the occupants use in their daily life. Public buildings are also existing buildings that are used in connection with community activities, for example residential houses or rental or boarding houses. Residential buildings in several regions in Indonesia are partly a building where the building components are made of wood with ages ranging from 5-20 years. The building is well maintained and repaired if there is damage. The purpose of the activities in this paper is to convey the results of community service activities, namely the detection of the strength of wooden buildings as part of disaster management activities. The scope of the activities is a detection test using a non-destructive testing technique, the building being reviewed is a residence in Manado, the remaining parameter of strength/quality of the wood being reviewed is the dynamic elastic modulus. The results indicated that the remaining strength of the wood material was still within normal limits and there was no damage. The building strength detection activity provides benefits as part of material quality inspection so that if there is a decrease in the quality of the wood due to damage, it can be followed up with relevant repair methods, so that damage to the building can be prevented. The test results are submitted to building owners as part of the socialization of disaster management.
