Abstract
Payroll is very important matter in company activities. Salary costs are one of theexpenses components that have quite big amount and complex calculations. These facts are able to create deviation problems or fraud if payroll system less wellsupervised. To avoid those things to happen, adequate internal controls on salary are needed, which can handle by a controller. This research purposes is to know therole of a controller and to know the effectiveness of internal control payroll system also to know the role of controller in supporting the effectiveness of internal control payroll system in PT. Budiman Subrata Niaga.The method been used in this researchis descriptive methods with study case approach, is a method which aim to describeand discuss about a research status in respect to a specific phase from the whole personality based on facts accompanied by analysis. The research results conclude the role of a controller in PT. Budiman SubrataNiaga viewed from qualifications aspect of effective controller and controller functioning normatively shows adequate results. Which mean that controller ingeneral is able to carry out their duties well. But there are some weaknesses in qualification aspect nor normative function of a controller. The payroll control system effectiveness in PT. Budiman Subrata Niaga generally effective which meanthe payroll process are compliance with the predetermined principals and procedures. Based on the data analysis showed controller having positive and significant role in increasing payroll control system effectiveness in PT. Budiman Subrata Niaga.
