Abstract

Abstract: Social media is an important part in young Indonesian’s daily lives. The most popular platform in the last years is instagram. This social media emphasises on photo and image sharing among its users. This study analyses the ideal image depicted by Indonesian celebrity woman in her instagram feed. Based on an initial survey, the case study chosen was Chelsea Olivia Wijaya/s instagram account. Then a focus group discussion was held to find out responds on ideal aspects depicted in her photographs. The methodology used to analyse previous data, was semiotic intelligence. Three major parts in semiotic intelligence triad are otherness, cultural quotient and semiotic intelligence. In this case, the other is Chelsea Olivia as celebrity. The cultural quotient in instagram verse is showing ideal women life. While the semiotic intelligence is young Indonesians response to signs depicted within Chelsea Olivia’s instagram feed. In conclusion, young Indonesian view Chelsea Olivia has been showing ideal life style. Her life style seems real to the respondents and within their ability to achieve on their own. They preferred her showing the role as mother and wife. She express her feminine by showing pictures of herself and her family. To the respondents, Chelsea Olivia also depicts Indonesian beauty, and has represents wholesome life through her photos.
