Abstract

Competition in the increasingly competitive business world, the market always changes forcing every company to keep on innovating. For small and medium enterprises or SME one of the innovations that can be done is product innovation. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that must be considered in product design innovation, especially in footwear products. From the results interview and observations there are four important factors to be considered in design product is the product function, the form of products, product quality and product price. This study uses qualitative verbatim interviews and focus group discussion. The results consumers expect additional functionality beside the generic function of shoes, shoes function as a complementary fashion, style, security and shows the character of a person is expected to be added in designing a pair of shoes. Shape of the shoes should also follow the trend time by time, which is now dominated by the model of boots and spring boots with leather materials and dark colored. Shoes are made must have good quality as expected the shoes can be used for all terrain and can survive for 1 year to 2 years, in addition to the strength of the convenience factor must be considered. The expected consumer price for a pair of casual shoes with the function, form and quality of the above is around Rp 500,000, - to Rp 1.000.000, -
