Abstract
Proper placement expatriates in a foreign country, is one of the global strategies of multinational companies. The success of these strategies depends on the right people with the right skills, at the right location, and at the right time. The most common criteria for evaluating international assignment are cross-cultural adjustment, completion of the international assignment, and expatriate’s performance. Multinational companies need to consider cross-cultural adjustment of expatriates, so the desire to leave the international assignment of expatriates remain low, so the high expatriates performance and organization are achieved. This study examines how the relationship between cross-cultural adjustment, desire of expatriates to leave the international assignment, and performance of expatriates. This sample was expatriates who work in multinational companies in Jakarta, which moves in the field of manufacturing and trade. Results showed there was no significant positive relationship between cross-cultural adjustment by desire of expatriates to leave the international assignment, there is no significant positive relationship between expatriate performance with desire of expatriates to leave the international assignment, and there is a significant positive relationship between cross-cultural adjustment of expatriate performance.
