Abstract

One of the primary needs of human beings is building and owning a home. A home has an important role in life. A home is also a beginning of a civilization, we also can learn many things from our home. Therefore, without a home, human beings will suffer and will not survive. A home needs to fulfill the livable criteria so the resident can feel safe and comfortable while living inside their house. However, not all houses fulfill the livable criteria, one of the major factors is extreme poverty. In Indonesia, extreme poverty can be caused by many factors, one of them is low income. Extreme poverty can have a major impact on the condition of houses. One of the poorest provinces in Indonesia is East Nusa Tenggara, with a percentage of poverty in cities and villages at 20.50%, this number was obtained by the Indonesia Central Bureau of Statistics in March 2022. This journal aims to deliver the contribution of Maranatha Christian University students who became an intern at MSIB Kampus Merdeka Batch 3 at the Directorate General of Human Settlement, Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) with the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Program (BSPS) in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara.
