Abstract

Murakami Haruki published Norwei no Mori novel in 1987. This novel is popular because of its story. Whilst the movie was published in 2010 by Tran Anh Hung. Noruwei no Mori genre is romance, fiction, and bildungsroman. Since the movie is adapted from its novel, there are some differences between the novel and the movie, it can be seen from the characters, storyline, scene, background scene, plot, and point of view. The writer researching this research based on the result of observing by reading the novel, and watching the film, which is very clear that many scenes on the novel were removed, added, and changed by the director. Moreover, the writer wants to see the difference in the structure of the plot between the novel and the movie. This research uses 3 theories, which are related to adaptation. These theories are based on Linda Hutcheon, Pamusuk Eneste, and Gorys Keraf research. The method and approach used in this research are the structural analysis method and narratives approach. Narratives are delivered some information about the event using descriptive ways. The results of this research are in the movie there are so many scenes that were removed, added, and changed by the director. Whilst the structure of the plot is not changed, but the storyline is different. The novel storyline is mixed plot, while in the movie is a chronogical plot.
