Abstract

Nowadays, the development of industry, especialy in hotel affairs, keeps increasing. The stronger competition makes every hotel has to increase its valuable. The most important aspect in hotel affairs is human resources. There are many ways to motivate the employee to encourage them work that is by giving salary and several allowances. The expense for salary and allowance in company is one of the biggest expenditure. It’s important to manage the expenses that is related by salary so that the deceit can’t be happened. In giving salary, it needs some controls that is done by controller. Controller has to supervise and manage many activities that is related by giving salary. The purpose of this research is to know the role of controller in giving salary and how big is the salary can motivate the employee in Hotel Santika Bandung. The method that used to arrange this minithesis is analytic description. Research method that is used by the writer is field research, libbrary research, abd statistic method. The writer has made hypothesis that controller in controlling the salary is very important to motivate the employee. From the result of the research, there is coefficient corelation value, that is 0,447 or 44,7% in corelation output. It means variable X1 (the role of controller), X2 (managing salary) by variable Y (employee motivation) has middle connection. Controller role variable and managing salary 20,0% to employee motivation variable give influence. Its signification degree is 0,0005 smaller than 0,05. It’s means there is an influence between controller role and salary management for employee motivation in Hotel Santika Bandung.
