Abstract
Scheduling of lecture and laboratory is one of the activities undertaken regularly every semester of college before the activity begins. In the Industrial Engineering Department at Maranatha Christian University, scheduling is done by Vice of Department. Many factors that must be considered and the method of scheduling is less clear (using different ways) and less systematic and also carried out manually resulted scheduling with long time. To solve the scheduling problems faced by Secretary of Department of Industrial Engineering, researchers proposed the first priority is plotting all General Basic Courses (MKDU). The second priority is all subjects that taught by Parttime Lecturer of Industrial Engineering Department and eventually all subjects and practicum taught by Lecturer Industrial Engineering Department. To determine the schedules, the method used is Linear Programming. To reduce the time required for data processing, researchers use WinQSB software version 2.00. Since the formulation of the overall scheduling problem is very complex, which far exceeds the capabilities WinQSB software, then the scheduling proposed to be carried out in stages, starting from the 1st semester class A until 7th semester class C, followed by elective courses and finally practicum. In applying the proposed method, researchers use a case study 3 subjects 1st semester for class A, B and C that were done gradually by performing some simplifications, namely all General Basic Courses will be directly plotted according to the schedule set by the Coordinator General Basic Courses, all subjects that are taught by Parttime Lecturer of Industrial Engineering Department will be directly plotted according to their desired schedule, scheduling restricted to the 1st semester with class A, B, and C, the number of subjects to be scheduled is only 3 subjects, namely subjects with exercise class, subjects without exercise class and practicum, the practicum class reduced to 6 class. The proposed scheduling method provide benefit namely scheduling method become systematic and the scheduling time required becomes shorter. Considering the limited ability of solving Linear Programming that WinQSB owned, researchers proposed the existence of advanced research in terms of making a program that has the ability to solve scheduling problems faced by Vice of Industrial Engineering Department.
