Abstract

Stern Stewart’s Consulting Firm suggests a method called Economic Value Added (EVA), which has a different operation system from a traditional measurement method. This method works by eliminating accounting distortions and counting capital costs into its calculation process, which eventually become one of the benefits of EVA method. The results indeed are useful for interested parties to be able to see the aptitude of management in adding more values to the enterprise In fact, EVA is obtained by subtracting NOPAT with capital charge. If the result is positive, it means the management succeeded in generating more values to corporate. It also means that the wealth of shareholders could be maximised. On the other hand, a negative result indicates that the management was not being able in adding more values to the company. For the purpose of this report, a research to review the performance of Bank Central Asia Incorporated Company has been conducted with a specific period from 2005 until 2009. From the investigation, it is found that Bank Central Asia has a positive EVA value with the addition of the values from year to year. Thus, it is indicated that the management has a good performance each year.
