Abstract

Accounting information system represents a critical component in the strategic decision-making process of an organization. This system is widely implemented in profit-based organizations, yet remains underutilized in non-profit organizations. A dearth of knowledge regarding financial reports and their implications for accountability to donors and performance assessments is a prevalent issue among foundations, a category of non-profit organizations. The objective of this community service is to implement an accounting information system in foundations as non-profit organizations. The methods employed include the modification of accounting information systems and the provision of training and mentoring. The service yields several significant outcomes, including the development of an Excel-based information system application tailored to the needs of partners. Secondly, a number of features have been modified, including the chart of accounts for donation recipients, donors, and community receivables. Thirdly, this service enables the integration of all features required for the creation of a financial information system for partners into a single Excel application. The Excel application has enabled partners to create financial reports, thereby demonstrating the efficacy of this service activity. It is anticipated that ongoing assistance will be forthcoming to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the accounting information system at the foundation.
