Abstract
Financial distress adalah keadaan dimana suatu perusahaan mengalami kesulitan keuangan. Jika sebuah perusahaan berada dalam keadaan financial distress terus menerus, kemungkinan terburuknya adalah kebangkrutan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh corporate governance dan leverage terhadap financial distress pada perusahaan sektor consumer goods yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama periode 2013 sampai dengan 2016 dengan kriteria tertentu. Corporate governance akan diwakili oleh jumlah dewan direksi (board of directors) sedangkan leverage akan diwakili oleh rasio utang (debt to assets ratio). Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder yaitu laporan keuangan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah causal explanatory dengan metode purposive sampling. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan corporate governance dan leverage berpengaruh pada financial distress.
