Abstract
Many are questioning the quality-not to mention the quantity-of accounting graduates and their abilities to handle the attack of complex transactions and technical regulation. Are universities preparing accounting students to face the real world? How relevant is today's accounting education? Are the curriculums at the universities adequately preparing future accountants to work in today's complex environment? These are big questions that educators in university, recruiters and those responsible for hiring accounting graduates are grappling with as they cope with the increasing demands of workplace that requires more accountants, equipped with unique skill and performance. It is no surprise then, that public accounting firms, public and private companies, as well as regulatory agencies, are concerned with hiring the right people-with right defined as qualified, in term of training. Universities have to response to their concerns by creating and sustain an innovative thinking of university management in preparing high quality and intellectual accounting graduates to face the "real world."
