Abstract
This case study evaluates the writing system inconsistency in an academic journal that has conformed to the requirements of the national standard accreditation. All the articles in one edition of the journal have been scrutinized in order to reveal the writing features that are not presented consistently. The findings show that some inconsistencies are found in the presentation of article titles, abstracts, sub-headings, citations, titles of figures, order of details, and reference lists. These facts indicate that the journal would have to overcome these problems in order not to degrade the journal’s excellence. In fact, article contributors need explicit writing guide lines that can be adopted by the journal from standard writing manuals. The guidelines will be necessary to help them avoid making mistakes and produce standard writing. It is hoped that this study would contribute to the improvement of the writing system of growing journals, and of students and novice writers who wish to learn about academic writing system from this article.
