Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the driving forces of the economy. These businesses are usually owned by individuals and business entities. One type of business that is included in the MSME criteria is a traditional soy sauce factory X. This factory has been run from generation to generation for more than 50 years. Currently the factory is manage by the descendants of the third generation. The current business development forces managers to continue to make improvements and innovations. Based on these needs, the manager asked for assistance in the form of consultation and design to the Product Design and Ergonomics Expertise Group (KBK) to make improvements to the factory. The method used is the Assets Based Community Development (ABCD) method, namely by looking at the assets owned by partners and connecting them with assets owned by the organization. Based on this, a preliminary research, focus group discussions, proposal preparation, and improvement timelines are carried out. In the preliminary research, the process carried out was to directly observe the location and conduct interviews with both managers and workers, take pictures and videos, and do some other records, such as work processes, activities, and equipment used. Based on this, the problem solving stage is divided by dividing the design area into a bottle washing area, a production area, and a bottle filling area. The conclusion obtained is that the improvements to be made in the bottle washing area are layout design, in the production area improvements will be made in the form of improvements to the physical environment, K3, and layout, and in the bottle filling area the design of tools and layout arrangements will be made.
