Abstract

The palace is a residence for the king and his family in the central position of the building. The Palace in the cosmological view is the center of magical power that affects the entire life of the community. Likewise, the spatial structure of the palace in Java adapts to the arrangement of Mount Mahameru, namely there is a peak area with its mountain cubs. Mountaintop is a core building that symbolizes Mount Mahameru. The hierarchy of space is shown by raising the floor where the most sacred space is the main building which is the building at the highest level. At the Kacirebonan Palace, the building with the highest level is the Main Building there is the Prabayaksa ward where sacred events are held. While other buildings are at a lower level. Preliminary observations show that there is a shift in the function of the inner space of the Kacirebonan Palace from its initial function, some spaces are converted to commercial areas and even some spaces do not function properly. This study aims to find out what changes in spatial function in the Kacirebonan Palace have changed from their traditional form. The hope is that the functions and values of the Keraton tradition as cultural symbols can be preserved and preserved.
