Abstract
The purpose of this study is to look at the impact of the announcement of the increase in fuel prices of stocks of consumer goods industries through abnormal stock return parameters and see the difference in trading activity before and after the increase in fuel prices because rising fuel prices could be one of the causes of rising prices of consumer goods. The method used in this research is event study with four samples is contained companies in the consumer goods industry in LQ 45 in 2008. By using α= 0.01 and α= 0.05, it was found that there is no abnormal return is significant and there is no difference in trading activity before and after the increase in fuel prices. Based on these findings it could be concluded that the announcement of the increase in fuel prices have no effect on stock returns in the consumer goods industry and trading activity in the consumer goods industry are not declined and significant increase during the announcement of the increase in fuel prices.
