Abstract

Blended learning suggests lecturer shall use blog as an alternative teaching media. The blog enable lecturer to deliver the course content any time, he or she will not depend on the teaching class time. Implementing e-learning in the blog will support lecturer to teach students as classroom learning. Students get more opportunities to learn, although not present in class due to illness or other reasons. The blog also can be used as a media to support lecturer activities. Important information relating to Tridharma can be posted in the blog by administrative office; lecturer can find that information easily. Actually Industrial Department lecturers of Maranatha Christian University are not having the blog as an alternative teaching media. Important information relating to the course can not be delivered to student easily. Lecturer has to submit the informasion to the administrative office then it will be posted on student notice board. In other case the important information for lecturer is delivered directly using notification paper or posted on lecturer notice board by admistrative officer. This research will design two blogs to accommodate student and lecturer need. Blog interface will be designed user-friendly using Human System Interface Technology (HSIT) approach. Student and lecturer need is collected by questioner. Six prototypes will be prepared by considering font size, font color, background color, template format, and content layout. Second questionare will be distributed to find out the best prototype for student and lecturer. The final blog will be a blog lecturer – students (for student) and blog admistrative office – lecturer (for lecturer). Blog lecturer – students is designed by combining white and blue color in template format. Page colomn is placed on the left screen separately with post colomn. The information can be displayed on the post column and the courses can be displayed in the page column. Blog administrative office – lecturer is designed by combaining beige and black color in template format. Post colomn is located on the left screen and two pages column are located on the right of post column. The information can be posted in the post column; the information for specific lecturer is delivered by page column. The final blog will be socialized to lectures and administrative officer.
