Abstract

Currently is the postmodern century, this century marked by the rapid development and advancement of increasingly sophisticated technology. The use of technology is not only has a positive impact for the individual but also has a negative impact for individuals and organizations. One of the negative impacts is cyberloafing behavior. Cyberloafing behavior has negative consequences on consumer behavior and can become an obstacle to one's performance and impact on organizational performance. Thus, conducted this study was to examine different individual characteristics (self efficacy, conscientiousness, achievement orientation) which moderate between self-regulation and behavior of cyberloafing. Data were collected through direct surveys. Samples taken are students of Maranatha Christian University. 200 questionnaires were distributed, with a return of 100%. From the four hypotheses proposed in this study, only two hypotheses were answered; self-regulation was significant influenced on cyberloafing behavior and achievement orientation succesed moderated and increased self-regulation influence on behavior of cyberloafing. Managerial implications based on the results of the study such as creating a culture that can reduce cyberloafing behavior, by providing training and development of technology-based character.
