Abstract

Mascot characters attract visitors by allegedly reflecting the values of certain identity. They can directly strengthen brand identity as part of the marketing strategies. If designed comprehensively, mascots can form a bond of loyalty and high appeal to their target audience because of the interaction that can bridge the value that producers want to convey to consumers. Through one of the design assignments implemented on the mascot of a nature-themed hotel entity, a study was conducted on how students can explore their work, as well as how visitors perceive the mascot display presented at the exhibition of their work. This mixed method research is structured by collecting data in the form of visitor opinion results and grouping mascot representations using the visual content analysis method. It can be seen the evaluation of learning outcomes in design education towards student work in accordance with responses from people who are interested in the presence of mascots as a medium of communication between producers and consumers.
