Abstract

This study aims to uncover and understand Daiba Nana’s psychosexual stages of development in Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight animation series. Author use psy-chology of literature as the study method while Freud’s psychoanalysis as the main theory. Data in this study was gathered from Daiba Nana’s dialog, monolog, and behavior that reflects her psyche condition with personality dynamics and defense mechanism as the referencing theory. Personality dynamics consist of instinct and psyche energy distribution. Instinct consist of life instinct and death instinct, can be seen from how the study object behave and her speech behavior. The psyche energy distribution affects the study object action, caused by instinct from the id, the ego, and/or the superego. Urge or impulse from psyche energy distribution and instinct can give rise to individual-level conflict, and causing anxiety, then defense mecha-nism will response to that anxiety to reduce the strain. On some number of cases in the storyline, study object is shown can’t response or reduce the strain from inner conflicts or real problems she faced, so she decided to avoid the conflicts itself, and living in stagnant life that is resulting her personality to be not developed.
