Abstract
Latar Belakang: : Awal tahun 2020 masyarakat dunia tengah mengalami situasi yang sangat meresahkan dengan ditemukannya wabah Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) yaitu penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Persepsi dapat diartikan sebagai proses pemahaman terhadap suatu stimulus. Terkait dengan COVID-19 stimulus yang diterima berupa informasi tentang perkembangan situasi COVID-19. Selain informasi berbasis fakta sejumlah informasi yang belum terbukti faktanya juga beredar di tengah penyebaran COVID-19. Tujuan: Mengetahui persepsi masyarakat terhadap COVID-19 di Kecamatan Garut Kota. Metode: Jenis penelitian yang digunakan deskriptif observasional dengan desain studi populasi. Sampel penelitian yaitu 100 responden yang berasal dari Kecamatan Garut Kota dengan teknik pengambilan sampel melalui kuisioner secara consecutive sampling. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi masyarakat terhadap penyebab COVID-19 di Kecamatan Garut Kota mayoritas berada pada persepsi negatif yaitu 53%, persepsi masyarakat terhadap penyebaran COVID-19 di Kecamatan Garut Kota mayoritas memiliki persepsi positif yaitu 59%, dan persepsi masyarakat terhadap pencegahan COVID-19 di Kecamatan Garut Kota mayoritas berada pada persepsi negatif yaitu 53%. Simpulan: Persepsi masyarakat terhadap penyebab COVID-19 di Kecamatan Garut Kota mayoritas berada pada persepsi negatif sedangkan persepsi masyarakat terhadap penyebaran dan pencegahan COVID-19 di Kecamatan Garut Kota mayoritas pada persepsi positif.
