Abstract
Gratitude expression is one of many ways to express our gratitude where the expression is said when there’s a cause for it within a conversation. The same thing applies for the expression of gratitude in Japanese, where it’s called as Kansha Hyougen, but the expression of gratitude in Japanese is far more difficult to learn because it has a direct and indirect expressions that makes it hard to identify the Kansha Hyougen behind it. A research with the title of “Expression of Gratitude 感謝表現 (Kansha Hyougen) in Japanese Conversation: A Pragmatic Study”, focuses on the problem in how to use Kansha Hyougen in Japanese, identifying the indicator and the forms of Kansha Hyougen that can be found in multiple Japanese conversation scenarios. The purpose of this research is to describe the indicator, the form, and the use of Kansha Hyougen in Japanese conversation. This research uses qualitative descriptive as the method and undermined with library research as the basis. A pragmatic study is used for this research to analyze the datas. The source of the data is from fictional works, such as anime and drama, in Japanese language. Based on the results of the analysis that conducted with pragmatic study, it is concluded that the use of Kansha Hyougen on Japanese language is depended upon the context of the conversation. The indicator also based on the form of Kansha Hyougen that is being used in a direct manner within
