Abstract
Saat ini banyak beredar produk pembersih lantai dengan berbagai kandungan zat disinfektan di pasaran yang oleh produsennya diakui dapat membunuh kuman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai koefisien fenol sampel pembersih lantai dengan kandungan benzalkonium klorida 1,5% dan sampel lain yang mengandung pine oil 2,5% terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Suatu disinfektan dianggap efektif bila keofisien fenolnya lebih besar dari 1. Metode yang dipakai adalah eksperimental laboratorik dengan uji koefisien fenol untuk membandingkan aktivitas antiseptik kedua sampel pembersih lantai. Sampel yang diuji diencerkan dalam berbagai konsentrasi dan dicampurkan dengan suspensi S. aureus dan E. coli Setelah berbagai interval waktu di menit-menit tertentu, akan diperiksa ada atau tidaknya pertumbuhan bakteri pada medium. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baik sampel X maupun Y yang diuji terhadap S. aureus memiliki koefisien fenol masing-masing adalah 1,33 dan 1,75. Sedangkan koefisien fenol terhadap E. coli adalah 1,67 untuk sampel X dan 2 untuk sampel Y. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa sampel pembersih lantai yang diuji cukup baik daya antibakterinya dan sampel Y lebih efektif baik terhadap S. aureus maupun E. coli.
