Abstract

This paper presents an initial attempt to develop a semantic analyzer component of a question answering system that handles linguistic information at the discourse level. Using the well-known Discourse Representation Theory as implemented in Blackburn & Bos’ systems, linguistic rules for Indonesian are adapted from an existing system and used to construct a Discourse Representation Structure (DRS) of an Indonesian utterance. An ability to do unification-based question answering over the resulting DRS structures is demonstrated.
