Abstract

There is a fundamental change occurring in wireless communication as people shift from single-purpose cellular telephones to wireless devices that include sophisticated data communication and display capabilities. People are using wireless devices to perform a constantly increasing number of day-to-day activities. This rapidly changing environment is presenting challenges and opportunities to companies around the world, including hotel industries. The hotel industry is fortunate to be among the few that are ideally positioned to take advantage of this shift toward wireless mobile computing, especially extending the reach of the hotel reservation technology.This paper discusses a mobile and desktop application for a small to medium sized hotel. With this application, customers can check real-time pricing and availability and make reservations directly wherever there is cellular phone reception
