Abstract

CV Bina Rubber is a company, which makes rubber based machine spare part. The company felt that the current production system is not too good, and still had opportunity to improve. It was characterized by high level of machine delay and how machine utilization. Those made total time was needed to produce goods became relatively high. Solving the problem will be done by proposing production scheduling using Ant Colony System Job Shop (ACSJS) or Active Scheduling. Three job shop cases comparison will be use to choose the methods between ACSJS or Active Scheduling. At first case, ACSJS and Active Scheduling yields the same makespan. For second case, ACSJS yields 3 minutes shorter makespan, and at third case, ACSJS yields 9 minutes shorter makespan. Based on the result, ACSJS then choose as proposed company troubleshooting method. Operation scheduling using ACSJS software generated optimal processing sequences in 40 minutes. This output genertes using following value of parameters: p=0.01, B=0.5, a=0.5, a=1000. After doing parameter tuning, then known that the optimal parameter value for company case are as following: p=0.1, B=0.7, a=0.3, a=34. With this optimal parameter values, the program running time can be reduced to 1 minute. ACSJS scheduling method for company actual orders (8 orders) obtained reduction of makespan up to 15.2% delay decreases by 8.6%, and machine utilization increases by 17.9%. The conclusion is that ACSJS method better than existing company method (First in First Out).
