Abstract
Vincent van Gogh is one of the expressionism artist. His life has influenced his paintings. As he had a bad experience about his life, is became an idea in most of his paintings. He often used stroke brush technique, and his un-perspective object that made his paintings looks like a child’s painting have a very deep symbol about what he was felt about. One of his paintings that we will discuss in this journal are Vincent’s Chair and His Pipe and Gauguin’s Armchair. In both his painting he used the same object, which is chair. One of the paintings reflecting about himself, and the other one is reflecting about his partner, Gauguin. It’s no doubt that the background of the artist’s life made their paintings. Especially in expressionism, they expressed their feelings into the canvas.
