Abstract

The goal of this research is to study about the role of mind-mindedness and personality factor of parents as mediators from the attachment transmission among generations. The background of this research is the finding of low degree relationship between attachment role of parents and children's attachment with sensitivity as mediator. From that invention, the researcher has been interested to discover another factor as mediators from parents' attachment to children's attachment. This research made use of correlation method in purpose of noticing the relationship between variable and another variable. Sample of this research are parents with preschool age children. The samples consist of 130 parents that live in Bandung-West Java. The researcher used the Relationship Questionnaire (RQ) of adult attachment and child attachment, Big Five Inventory, Mind-Mindedness Questionnaire, and Demographic Data as the assessment tools. The result of this study explained that a) there was no significant relationship between parents' and children's attachment; b)there was less substantial relationship between mind-mindedness role and personality factor of the parents as the mediator variables from the attachment transmission among generations; c) there was a significant correlation between parents' attachment and the extraversion of personality factors. The result also showed that there was no significant relationship between the personality factor of parents' and children's attachment. From this research, the researcher found that there was still a discrepancy of the attachment transmission among generations.
