Abstract

In the last decade, tendency of overweight children and adult people are increased all over the world. In Indonesia, obesity have already become a major problem which need serious management. It is difficult to deal with obesity, since it’s multifactorial etiology. One of the predominant factor is excessive-appetite. It has been proven that gut hormone, cholecystokinin (CCK) can decreased the appetite. In addition, CCK has a short term anorectic effect. That was the reason why CCK will become as one of therapeutic targets of obesity in the future. CCK is produced in enteroendocrine cell along the small gut mucous and the secretion is stimulated by protein and fat through signal transduction mechanisms. Protein stimulated the secretion CCK through signal transduction G Protein Coupling Receptor (GPCR), GPR 93. Then they activated Extracellular Signal-Related Kinase (ERK) 1/2 through Gαq and Gαi signal transduction. Soybean contain a bioactive protein, β-conglycinin (BconP) subunit–β, which has been proven to be the best inducer for CCK secretion. The signal transduction pathway that well known is Gαq-coupled GPCR which influenced the calcium signal and activated Protein Kinase C (PKC). The downstream signaling to complete the pathway is remain unclear and further study will be needed to explore the whole process.
